Marlene is a first-generation Palestinian immigrant who has lived in Milwaukee most of her life. Before completing her master's in public health, specializing in Behavioral Health and Health Education, from the University of Michigan, she served as a Public Ally serving the refugee/immigrant community where she gained her passion for community health and breaking down barriers. Over the years, she has worked on multiple public health projects within the non-profit/grassroots sector both nationally and internationally including COVID-19 grant projects, COVID-19 health education campaigning, and consulting within the vast immigrant population. She now is a perinatal mental health specialist for the Milwaukee Health Department, working on projects to decrease infant mortality rates. Marlene hopes to educate and increase awareness about Perinatal mental health on a micro and macro level for underserved mothers. During her free time Marlene loves to travel, do yoga, and take photos.
